The Incarnation Movement

About us

The Incarnation movement also known as “The word of God groups” is a movement of the roman catholic church founded in 1996 in Bamenda (Northwest Cameroon) by Dr. Henri Bayemi. It is considered an ecclesial movement by the founder as defined by his holiness the pope emeritus Benedict XVI, then cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, during the meeting for the leaders of ecclesial movements and communities at the Pentecost 1998 (Movements in the Church; Pontificium consilium pro laicis).

In the Incarnation movement, we believe that the world needs a new revolution, that of the lived Word. Therefore, members of the Word of God groups are called to live the spirituality of the Incarnation which consists in letting Jesus dwell in each and every one who puts the Word of God into practice. Pope Benedict XVI says that the Incarnation is the greatest miracle of the universe. We believe that to live the Word of God is like a magnet that draws Jesus into us such that He becomes present in us as during the Incarnation. Therefore, each member of our movement works miracles by living the Word of God and every Christian who lives the Word of God should experience the same thing.

To this date, we can number about 50 Word of God groups spread over 4 continents (Africa, Asia, Europe and America), 16 countries (Cameroon, Germany, France, England, Canada, United States of America, etc…) and more than 45 catholic parishes around the world. Each year, the groups organizes multiple spiritual activities such as weekly Word of God meetings, Christmas and Lenten retreats, daily and weekend retreats for couples and singles, and most especially an annual retreat. This last event is a 5-day spiritual recollection that is organized in Cameroon, in Europe, and in North America during the months of July and August. It usually gathers approximately 2000 participants in Cameroon and more than 150 attendants in Europe. This coming August will take place the first annual retreat ever organized in North America.
